875 Laguna Road, Pasadena- Karl Schvertfeger, 1956

Interestingly enough...this is the only house built by Karl Schvertfeger. Karl studied architecture at USC and during his 3rd year at school decided to build a 50s style post and beam house for his parents.  The design started as a project for one of the classes that Schvertfeger was taking and completed in 1956. The house remained in the family until 1996.

Marketing Description:
Mid-Century Modern lovers get ready! Welcome to one of the most serene, special homes in Pasadena. This distinguished post and beam residence is one of four designed and built by J.W. Putnam on San Rafael's prestigious Laguna Road. Set on a nearly 19,000 s.f. lot, the steel base structure graciously spans a flowing creek bed (with fish!) that stems from nearby Johnston Lake, and leads to an intimate rear yard gently nestled among verdant and private woodlands. There are brand new sliding glass doors and decks off of all living areas. A step-down living room with vaulted, beamed ceiling and wood burning fireplace. Updated kitchen with granite counter tops, stainless steel appliances and a formal dining area with a quaint yard/dining patio. 3 generous sized bedrooms, each with vaulted ceilings and outdoor deck access. 2 Full baths with sleek/modern finishes; the master is an en suite. Newer roof, updated plumbing, one car garage and a single space carport.
