THE ALDEN SCHWIMMER RESIDENCE - 1435 BELLA DR, BEVERLY HILLS, CA 90210

I grew up in LA near one of the city's landmark homes by John Lautner, the Malin Residence a.k.a "Chemosphere House". Riding my bike by the groundbreaking futuristic 1960's residence was one of my earliest sources of inspiration to create architecture, and John Lautner was at that time my favorite architect and remains to this day one of my most favorite for many reasons. There is something so obviously genius about Lautner's homes, and this 5 bedroom curving wood and stone masterpiece has that distinctive "WOW" factor that every one of his one-of-a-kind designs has in it very DNA. -Markus

Marketing Remarks:

The Alden Schwimmer Residence, 1982 by John Lautner, FAIA. A modern hilltop castle perched on a magical 4.33 acre site above Benedict Canyon with a commanding 180 degree view, available for the first time in 16 years. Private gated drive opens to a multimillion dollar concrete driveway which wraps around the hillside into the large entry motor court. Six stone "turrets" across the front of the structure merge dramatic proportions with circular geometric shapes. Huge arc-shaped terraces run across the home and curved ceilings are complemented by glass walls, exquisite wooden detail, and signature Bouquet Canyon stone surfaces. Main level offers a master bedroom and a library, while the lower level features maid's quarters and 3 additional bedrooms. Flanking the west end of the structure is a cantilevered pavilion with a private pool and terrace. Property has recently undergone a multimillion dollar restoration and renovation by renowned Lautner-trained architect Duncan Nicholson.
